Build your own bundle – discounted bundles the customer puts together themselves

Build your own bundle

The customer picks three products from your range themselves and gets them cheaper than buying them separately. The system handles pricing and stock — you just say what they can choose from and what the discount is.

What it is and why it sells

You know it from coffee, cosmetics or supplements: “Pick any three and get them ten percent off.” The customer builds a bundle out of what actually interests them and leaves with more than one product.

That's exactly what we add to your Shoptet Premium. You set how many slots the bundle has, which products it draws from and what the discount is. The rest takes care of itself: prices and stock are pulled live from your store and the price recalculates on every change.

And it isn't a facade assembled in the browser. The moment the customer orders the bundle, a real Shoptet product set is created through the Shoptet API, with the discounted price and the individual items inside it. From then on it's an ordinary product to your store — stock is deducted, the invoice adds up, shipping works and so does the export to your ERP. The sets are created in a hidden category, and anything that isn't ordered within a week deletes itself, so your catalogue doesn't get overgrown.

This is not the same as the product sets Shoptet does on its own. Those are fine when you know which combination you want to sell — you put it together in the admin and the customer buys it as it is. We solve the opposite case: when the combination shouldn't be picked by the merchant but by the customer. Thirty products then turn into thousands of possible bundles, and you don't have to photograph a single one.

Try it yourself

This is exactly what your customer sees. Pick three products and watch what happens to the price. The range is made up, the mechanics are the ones we ship.

Made-up roastery, real mechanics. One product is deliberately sold out — with a fixed set that would make the whole set unbuyable; here the customer simply picks another one.

It isn't the same as Shoptet's Product sets

This is the first question we get — Shoptet has its own Product sets add-on, free from the Basic plan up. But it does something different, and that difference decides whether you need this service at all.

  • Who builds the set

Product sets (Shoptet)The merchant, in the admin. The set becomes a new product.
Build your own bundleThe customer, right on the storefront. You only decide what they can choose from.
  • How many combinations you offer

Product sets (Shoptet)As many as you create and photograph by hand.
Build your own bundleEvery combination the allowed range can produce. Thirty products make thousands.
  • Price

Product sets (Shoptet)Fixed, set on the set itself.
Build your own bundleComputed from the current prices of the chosen items and the discount you define.
  • When something sells out

Product sets (Shoptet)The whole set becomes unavailable.
Build your own bundleThe set is only created at the moment of ordering, so there's nothing to block. The customer sees availability on every item.
  • What the customer sees

Product sets (Shoptet)The set as a single product.
Build your own bundleA photo, price, rating and availability for every slot. And how much they're saving.
  • What it does to your catalogue

Product sets (Shoptet)Every set is another product you create and maintain.
Build your own bundleSets create themselves into a hidden category. Anything not ordered within a week deletes itself again.
  • How many bundles at once

Product sets (Shoptet)The more sets, the more manual work.
Build your own bundleSeveral independent bundles side by side — different slots, different range, different discount.
  • Where it runs

Product sets (Shoptet)Any Shoptet from the Basic plan up.
Build your own bundleShoptet Premium — it needs the open API for live prices and stock.

If you know exactly which combination you want to sell, take Shoptet's add-on — it's cheaper and it's enough. You need us the moment you'd rather have the customer choose that combination than choose it yourself.

What the bundle can do

  • Two to five products per bundleyou set the number of slots when you create the configuration.
  • A shared or a separate list per sloteither every slot draws from the same range, or each one gets its own, split into named categories.
  • A percentage discount1 to 100 %. The customer always sees the regular price, the bundle price and how much they saved.
  • Live prices, stock and ratingseverything is pulled from Shoptet through the API. Change a price in the admin and the bundle has it straight away.
  • Currencies and price listsprices convert into the currency the customer is shopping in and respect the price list assigned to their group. So it works for B2B too.
  • Buying several bundles at oncethe customer sets a quantity on the bundle just like on a regular product.
  • A page of its own, or anywhere elsethe bundle is inserted with a short code — onto a dedicated landing page, into a category or into an article.
  • Several bundles side by sidea Christmas box, a summer set and a permanent three-pack can all run at once, independently.
  • Oversized and atypical billing carry overif an item has special shipping or billing rules, the set inherits them. Shipping doesn't break.
  • In your designthe bundle adapts to your store's template so it doesn't look like a foreign element glued on top.

What happens when the customer hits Buy

The bundle isn't a facade assembled in the browser. At the moment of ordering it turns into a real Shoptet product set, so from then on the whole store treats it like any other product.

  1. You paste in a short codeanywhere in your store. The widget renders itself in that spot.
  2. The widget asks for dataour API sends the allowed products with prices, stock, ratings and photos — in the right currency and according to the customer's price list.
  3. The customer builds the bundlethe price and the saving are recalculated right in the browser, with no waiting.
  4. A real product set is createdour API uses the Shoptet API to create a set with the discounted price and the individual items inside.
  5. The set goes into the cartfrom there it's an ordinary Shoptet order — stock, invoice, shipping and the export to your ERP.

Where it earns the most

It works best where customers enjoy choosing, products cost roughly the same and one piece isn't enough:

  • Food and drinkcoffees, teas, jams, nut butters. The customer wants to taste several things and doesn't want one big jar.
  • Cosmetics and drugstorescents, variants, sizes. The bundle turns hesitating between two products into buying both.
  • Supplementsa month's supply tends to be a combination of three products — make it a single purchase.
  • Gifts and corporate packagesthe customer builds the gift around the recipient, not around what you managed to photograph.
  • Sport and leisuregear is bought as a set: the main thing plus the two they'd otherwise forget.
  • Pet suppliesfood, treats, accessories. A classic repeat purchase that can be merged into one.

How the rollout works

  1. We agree what the bundle should dohow many slots, from which range and at what discount.
  2. We prepare the licencethe backend, the connection to your API and the bundle admin.
  3. We ship the front endthe look of the bundle inside your template. Your current partner can handle this too.
  4. We test itwe go through prices, stock and the path to the cart on test data.
  5. We launch and keep watchin production you get support and updates whenever Shoptet changes.

What it costs

The licence and the rollout are one-off, then there's the monthly operation. All prices exclude VAT.

Front-end rollout

€200–400

one-off — the look of the bundle inside your template, depending on how complex the design is. Your current partner can do it, in which case you don't pay us for this.

Operation and support — monthly

Operation is charged per Shoptet instance the bundle runs on. The second and every further instance is cheaper.

1st Shoptet instance
€32
2nd instance
€24
3rd and every further instance
€16

For example: three Shoptet stores = €32 + €24 + €16 = €72 a month excl. VAT.

Not sure it would work for you?

Send us your store's address and we'll look at your range. We'll tell you how many slots and what discount would make sense — and above all, we'll say so outright if we think it won't pay off.

The consultation is free and commits you to nothing. We'd rather you do the maths up front than switch off something six months later because it never caught on.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Shoptet's own Product sets add-on?
Who puts the set together. With the Product sets add-on the merchant builds it in the admin and the customer buys it as it is — you offer as many sets as you create, and when one item sells out the whole set becomes unavailable. With us the customer picks from the range you allow: thirty products turn into thousands of combinations, the price is computed from current prices, and a sold-out item simply drops out of the offer. If you know exactly what you want to sell, Shoptet's add-on is enough.
What does it cost?
A one-off licence of €1,000 (backend, documentation and consulting on the bundle design) plus €200–400 for the front-end rollout, depending on how complex the design is. Then monthly operation: €32 for the first Shoptet instance, €24 for the second and €16 for the third and every further one. All prices exclude VAT. Your existing partner can handle the front end — in that case you don't pay us for it.
Does it work on regular Shoptet, or only on Premium?
Shoptet Premium only. The bundle computes prices and checks stock live against your data, and that needs the open API which the regular plans don't have.
How many products can one bundle hold?
Two to five. Three slots is the most common setup. Each slot can also draw from a different part of your range — the first from your main products, the second and third from add-ons, for instance. The discount is set as a percentage, from 1 to 100 %.
What actually gets ordered? Isn't the bundle just arithmetic in the browser?
It isn't. The moment the customer orders the bundle, a real Shoptet product set is created through the Shoptet API, with the discounted price and the individual items inside it. From then on it's an ordinary product to your store — stock is deducted, the invoice adds up, shipping works and so does the export to your ERP. If an item has atypical shipping or billing, the set inherits it.
Won't this clutter up my product catalogue?
No. The sets are created in a hidden category the add-on sets up on installation, so they never show up in your catalogue or your feeds. We also never create the same combination twice, and anything not ordered within a week is deleted automatically.
Does it work for B2B and for foreign currencies?
Yes. Prices convert into the currency the customer is shopping in and respect the price list assigned to their customer group. A wholesale customer therefore sees their own prices in the bundle, not the retail ones.
Can we run several bundles at once?
Yes. Bundles run independently of each other — a Christmas box, a summer set and a permanent three-pack can all be live at the same time, each with its own number of slots, its own range and its own discount. A bundle is inserted with a short code, so you can put it on a dedicated landing page, into a category or into an article.
What happens when one of the products sells out?
It disappears from the offer and the customer picks something else in its place. The bundle stays buyable. This is the main practical difference from a fixed set, which a single sold-out item would block entirely.
How long does the rollout take?
It mostly depends on how complex the design needs to be and how quickly we agree on the range and the discount. Send us your store's address and we'll come back with a timeline and a tailored price — the consultation is free and commits you to nothing.

Great add-on! Everything was easy to set up even without a guide. So far we've
